Swanner named HCAC men’s basketball player of the week

CARMEL, Ind. - Defiance College sophomore Landen Swanner was tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's men's basketball player of the week, the conference announced on Monday.

The Gas City, Ind. native exploded for a career-high 33 points during a Yellow Jacket win over Olivet on December 14. Swanner also set a career-best total for field goals made and knocked down five 3-pointers.

Swanner is the second Yellow Jacket to earn the weekly honor during the season's first six weeks, joining senior Marell Jordan from the first week of the year. The award is Swanner's first career player of the week award as Defiance receives multiple player of the week recipients in the same season since 2015-16, which was the last time DC captured the conference championship.

The Yellow Jackets men's basketball team is currently 3-5 on the season with contests at Mount Saint Vincent and Immaculata to complete their non-conference schedule.
