
MBB Preview: Yellow Jackets host Olivet on Wednesday night

DEFIANCE, Ohio — The men's basketball team at Defiance College plays their final home game of the 2022 calendar year on Wednesday night with a non-conference tilt versus Olivet College out of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
DC enters action with a 2-5 record after losing three in a row to open the conference schedule to Manchester, Franklin and Hanover. Olivet is 2-4 after a loss on Saturday at Wisconsin-Whitewater. This is Defiance's third game against an MIAA opponent to go along with a loss to Alma and a win over Adrian, both taking place at the Weaner Center.
Wednesday night could put the scoreboard to the test. Defiance and Olivet score more than 73 points per game and each gives up more than 78 per game. Each team also averages more than 9 3-pointers per game with nearly 40 percent from outside the arc.
Marell Jordan leads Defiance and the HCAC in scoring at 20.6 points per game following a 27-point outing at Hanover on Saturday. For Olivet, Derrick Johnson and Ryan Robinette for a two-headed scoring threat at 16.3 points per game apiece while Johnson picked up 26 makes from downtown. Tevin Ali is the top rebounder with 6.5 per game.
Defiance leads the all-time series against the Comets, 39-6. Wednesday's meeting marks the first game between the two former MIAA foes since Defiance visited Olivet in November 2017 and lost, 96-64.
The Yellow Jackets complete their non-conference schedule prior to Christmas with a two-game swing up the East Coast Mount St. Vincent and Immaculata.
