Men's Basketball takes down Anderson in home HCAC battle

The Defiance men's basketball team took down Anderson in a home HCAC battle on Wednesday night, 67-55.

The Basics

• Senior Tyler Andrew led the Yellow Jackets with 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
• Senior Marell Jordan dropped 13 points, notched seven rebounds, and snatched four steals.
• Junior Jerome Johnson and freshman Landen Swanner each added nine points.
• Sophomore Dejsani Beamon chipped in seven points and dished out a team-high six assists during the game.
• As a team, Defiance shot 25-of-58 (.431) from the floor and went 7-of-13 (.538) from the three-point line.
• Maurice Knight led the Ravens with 15 points and recorded nine rebounds.
• Francis Uzorth added 12 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Difference

• Both teams battled back and forth in the first six minutes of the contest.
• With the score in favor of the Ravens, 12-8, Defiance went on a 14-2 run to take a 22-14 lead with less than ten minutes remaining in the first half.
• The Yellow Jackets held onto to their lead for the rest of the first half and took a 35-26 lead into halftime.
• Defiance used their momentum from the first half and helped build it into most of the second half.
• Anderson didn't quit though and fought back to cut the deficit to two, 48-46, with less then ten minutes left.
• The Yellow Jackets answered with a 15-5 run to take a 64-53 lead with five minutes left in the contest.
• Defiance held on for the rest of the game and grabbed the victory, 67-55.
• Each team recorded 33 rebounds.
