Yellow Jackets Conclude Season Against Hanover
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's basketball team wrapped up the 2018-19 season with a Senior Day matchup with first place Hanover on Saturday, falling to the Panthers 72-58.
DEFIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College men's basketball team wrapped up the 2018-19 season with a Senior Day matchup with first place Hanover on Saturday, falling to the Panthers 72-58.
The Yellow Jackets honored lone senior Noah Goodrich (Oregon / Genoa) in front of a packed Karl H. Weaner Center.
DC would have a tough opponent on their hands, as Hanover had already clinched first place in the HCAC. The Yellow Jackets showed no signs of intimidation, quickly jumping out to a 14-7 lead when Goodrich sank his first three of the day. The Panthers clawed their way back to the lead, sending the sides into halftime with a 36-29 score.
Defiance came out of the locker room with another quick start in the second half, knotting the score at 41 seven minutes in. The Panthers offense showed their capabilities, ultimately pulling away to the 72-58 scoreline.
Micaiah Cox (Ft. Recovery / Ft. Recovery) led the way for DC, scoring 15 points, grabbing six rebounds, and tallying two blocks. Tyler Andrew (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence Central) followed with 14 points of his own. Sean Tyson (Columbus / Centennial) finished with a double-double of 11 points and 11 assists. Goodrich finished his career at DC with 10 points, going 4-10 from the field and 2-7 from beyond the arc.
The Yellow Jackets wrap up the year with a 3-22 record, finishing 1-17 in HCAC play.
