
Schomaeker Named Jostens Trophy Finalist
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College men's basketball player and senior guard Travis Schomaeker (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) has been announced as one of the ten finalists for the Jostens Trophy.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College men's basketball player and senior guard Travis Schomaeker (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) has been announced as one of the ten finalists for the Jostens Trophy.
The Jostens Trophy is awarded to an individual based on their basketball ability, academic ability, and community service.
Schomaeker and the nine other finalists will be voted on by a national selection committee made up of college coaches, former athletes, college administrators, and selected members of the media.
In conjunction with the awarding of the Jostens Trophy, is the presentation of the Wooldridge Scholarship. The scholarship will be given in the name of the Jostens Trophy recipient to the college or university which the winner of the Jostens Trophy attends.
The winner will be announced in the coming weeks.
Schomaeker and the rest of the Yellow Jackets are traveling to Whitewater, Wisc. for a NCAA Tournament matchup against No. 2 nationally-ranked and defending Division III National Champion, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The game will be played on Friday with a tipoff time of 8:30 pm.
