GREENWOOD, Ind. – After the first weekend of play in NCAA basketball, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has named senior forward Bernard Edwards (Detroit, Mich./Warren Cousino) the Player of the Week.
Edwards had a big night on Saturday to help lead Defiance College to an 85-58 victory over Alma (Mich.) College.
The senior started out the season with a bang, dropping 32 points against the Scots which is a new career-high for Edwards. He shot over 57 percent from the field on eight-of-14 shooting. He also took six three pointers on the night and cashed in on four of them. Edwards also made the opposition pay every time they sent him to the line as he was a perfect 12-for-12 from the charity stripe.
On top of Edwards scoring a new career-high, he also was a big factor on the boards for DC as he pulled down six rebounds.
Edwards and the rest of the Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 18) as they welcome in Wheaton (Ill.) College for their second home game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
