Four Yellow Jackets named to All-HCAC teams
GREENWOOD, Ind. - Four Defiance College Yellow Jackets Men's Basketball players have been recognized by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches and have been named to one of four All-HCAC honors.

Ryan Hicks and Bernard Edwards lead the Yellow Jackets in the All-HCAC awards after both players were named First Team All-HCAC. The duo gives Defiance elite company as the only team to have more than one player make the first team in 2014.
Hicks (Sr./Port Clinton, Ohio/Port Clinton HS) is one of three seniors on the 6-man first team and finished the year tied for third in the conference in scoring with 17.1 points per game. The 2013 Honorable Mention All-HCAC award winner jumped to the first team after a 2013-14 campaign that included shooting 51.4 percent from the field, best among players in the HCAC who averaged at least 15 points per game. Hicks played 34.5 minutes per game, second best in the HCAC, and averaged 5.9 rebounds per game, sixth best in the HCAC.
Edwards (Jr./Detroit, Mich./Warren Cousino HS) joins Hicks as the only other forward to make the first team. Edwards finished sixth in the league in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game. He also finished the year sixth in blocks per game, averaging just under one with 23 blocks in 26 games. Edwards also averaged 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
The duo of Hicks and Edwards combined to scored in double figures 44 times in the 2013-14 season and they also scored in double figures in the same game on 18 occasions. Both numbers led the HCAC.
Mason Roth (Jr./McComb, Ohio/McComb HS) is the third member of the Yellow Jackets on the postseason awards list for the HCAC after being named to the Honorable Mention All-HCAC team. Roth averaged 9.0 points per game and finished seventh in the HCAC with 76 assists, averaging 2.9 per game. Roth also finished the season eighth in steals, averaging over one a game with 29. Roth finished with a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ration, ninth best in the HCAC.
Travis Schomaeker (Jr./Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf HS) also was recognized on the All-HCAC list, being named to the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team. Schomaeker, like the previous three, started in all 26 games for the Yellow Jackets in 2013-14 and finished sixth in the HCAC in minutes per game. Schomaeker was also fourth in the conference in steals with 37 and was fifth in the HCAC with 48 three pointers. Schomaeker finished right behind Roth with 70 assists on the season, 10th best in the HCAC.
The four individuals to receive postseason awards for Defiance is the most for the Yellow Jackets Men's Basketball program since the 2009-10 season when five Yellow Jackets (Anthony Brown, Nate Conley, Mike Floyd, Nick Sales, and Logan Wolfrum) received All-HCAC recognition.
