
HCAC Tabs DC's Wolfrum as Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the second-straight week and the fourth time during the 2010-2011 season, Defiance College’s Logan Wolfrum has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Wolfrum led the Jackets to a pair of road victories, extending DC’s win streak to four-straight games.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the second-straight week and the fourth time during the 2010-2011 season, Defiance College's Logan Wolfrum has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Wolfrum led the Jackets to a pair of road victories, extending DC's win streak to four-straight games.
Wolfrum opened the week with a game-high 18 points at Earlham to help DC to its first true road victory of the season. The sophomore point guard followed that effort up with a 40-point outburst at Franklin that included the game-winning bucket with 1.6 seconds left in overtime of the 94-92 win. Along with sticking in the game winner, Wolfrum scored 28 of his 40 points after the half and added five assists and five rebounds.
Wolfrum averaged 29.0 points per game in the two victories, while shooting 60.0 percent from beyond the arc and 48.4 percent from the field. The Defiance, Ohio, native also connected on 22-of-26 free throws while adding 3.5 boards, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest.
Wolfrum has averaged 22.9 points per game over DC's first 15 and ranks inside the top-10 in the nation in that category, while leading all HCAC performers in scoring, assists, field goals made, free throws made and minutes played per game.
Wolfrum and the Jackets (10-5, 5-3 HCAC) will look to continue their winning ways when they host Bluffton (11-4, 4-4 HCAC) on Wednesday night. The two rivals will meet for the 185th time when the ball goes up at 7:30 pm inside the Karl H. Weaner Community Center.
