
Esports Rundown: Yellow Jackets ramp up toward postseason action
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Esports teams are putting the finishing touches on their spring regular seasons in both WHAC and NECC competition across three different sports.
The Valorant team had a busy week with a pair of matches last Monday and two WHAC battles as well. The program went 0-3 for the week, including a narrow 2-1 loss to Aquinas on Monday night and a 2-0 defeat to Lawrence Tech on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets completed the NECC regular season 3-3 to reach the playoffs as a 7-seed. In WHAC play, Defiance now stands 1-8.
In Overwatch 2 action, DC finished their WHAC regular season with a 3-0 loss to Aquinas to finish 0-6 in the conference. They will turn their attention to the WHAC Play-In Round next week.
Defiance's Rocket League squads completed their NECC regular seasons last Thursday, splitting matches of a 3-2 loss against St. Ambrose and a 3-1 win over Saginaw Valley State. DC's Gold team also fell to Mount Union 3-1. The Yellow Jackets finished 5-1 in NECC Rocket League and earned the 3-seed in the upcoming playoffs. The Gold Team just missed their postseason by finishing 3-4.
On deck for the Esports program is all postseason action with NECC Valorant and Rocket League playoffs starting this week. In the WHAC, the Play-In Round for Valorant kick off on Saturday, March 29 while Overwatch begins Monday, March 31.
