Esports Rundown: Yellow Jackets start Rocket League season with WHAC victory
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College Esports kicked off the 2024-25 campaign this week with their first official competition as a member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Facing Lourdes in the first of a seven-week regular season in Rocket League, Defiance took down the Gray Wolves by a 3-1 tally.
In a best-of-5 series, the Yellow Jackets outscored Lourdes 4-1 and 2-1, lost 4-1, and won 6-1 to clinch the match. All three players for Defiance had steller performances as Asa Moledor, Blake Bowman and Cooper Sloan guided the team to victory. Moledor recorded seven goals, three assists, 12 shots and made six saves. Bowman scored five times with five assists, three saves and a team-high 14 shots on goal. Sloan scored once with a pair of assists, four saves and six shots. Moledor scored in all four games but Bowman recorded a hatrick in the match-clinching finale.
DC's next Rocket League competition is on Wednesday night against Indiana Tech.
