GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its spring honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team on Tuesday, with Defiance placing 11 student-athletes on the list to bring its 2010-2011 total up to 38.

Bingley, Trivett and Switzer Earn All-HCAC Accolades

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference released its list of All-HCAC track and field performers on Thursday, with three DC athletes receiving recognition. Austin Trivett and Kim Bingley took First Team All-HCAC, while Kaitlin Switzer earned Honorable Mention.

Men’s Track Takes Fourth at HCAC Outdoor Championships

HANOVER, Ind. – The men’s track and field team finished fourth at the 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Rose-Hulman won the championship meet with 226.50 points, while Franklin (123), Manchester (88.5), Defiance (80) and Anderson (74) rounded out the top five.

Men Tied for Third After First Day of Outdoor Championships

HANOVER, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets are locked in a three-way tie for third place after the first day of action at the 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Rose-Hulman leads the way with 73 points, while Earlham (30), Defiance (29), Anderson (29) and Franklin (29) comprise the two through five spots.

Beaverson Leads Men’s Track at AU-Preconference Invite

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Jackets traveled to Anderson University on Thursday to get a final tune-up before the HCAC Outdoor Championships next weekend. Junior thrower, Josh Beaverson, highlighted the AU Pre-Conference Invitational for Defiance with a pair of season-best performances.

Men’s Track Competes At All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – The men’s track and field team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday to compete in the Div. III All-Ohio Championships. DC’s Ryan Perry, Justin Perkins, Austin Trivett and Dan Hardin-Wallace each posted All-Ohio performances at the meet.

Men’s Track Runs Strong at Adrian All-American Invitational

ADRIAN, Mich. – The men’s track and field team shook up its record books at the Adrian College All-American Invitational on Saturday. Three different Yellow Jacket runners turned in All-Ohio qualifying performances in the 1,500-meter run at the meet.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s track and field team garnered 102 points in a third-place showing at the Yellow Jacket Open on Friday. Austin Trivett and Justin Perkins each posted conference-leading marks in DC’s last home meet of the season.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its winter honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team on Wednesday, with Defiance placing seven student-athletes on the list. The seven award winners give DC five more than its 2009 winter total.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Marlea Rolander and Austin Trivett led their respective teams to a pair of victories at the Dick Small Invitational on Saturday, and were honored by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Monday, when the league office announced its athletes of the week.

Men’s Track and Field Defends Title at Dick Small Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Justin Perkins broke his own school record in the 5,000-meter run, and the men’s track and field team defended its title at the Dick Small Invitational on Saturday. The Jackets earned 191.50 points to take top honors in their first meet of the 2011 outdoor season.

Men’s Track and Field Ranked Second in HCAC Preseason Poll

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team received a second-place ranking with 89 points in the 2011 HCAC Preseason Coaches Poll, released by the conference office on Wednesday. Defiance also had five athletes placed on the Preseason Athletes-to-Watch list.
