Demecs Breaks Record at Gregory Invitational
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The 2011 outdoor track and field season came to an end on Friday for Defiance College, with Aaron Demecs, Justin Perkins and Austin Trivett scoring top-10 finishes at North Central’s Gregory Invitational.

Demecs led the way by setting a new Defiance College outdoor record and taking third in the 400-meter run. Demecs bested his previous record of 49.51 by logging a 48.98 and missed hitting the provisional time to qualify for the NCAA Nationals by just .48 seconds.
Perkins also ran well for the Jackets, running the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:26.05 to take seventh and Trivett jumped 6-02.00 in the high jump to finish seventh in that competition.
The event brought an end to the 2011 outdoor season for the Defiance College track and field teams. The Jackets will break in a brand new indoor track in the fall, with the opening of the Defiance College Athletics Center.
