Men Tied for Third After First Day of Outdoor Championships

Rose-Hulman leads the way with 73 points, while Earlham (30), Defiance (29), Anderson (29) and Franklin (29) comprise the two through five spots.

Austin Trivett tied the HCAC Championships pole vaulting record with a clearance of 15' 1" to claim the Yellow Jackets' sole first-place finish of the day. The senior athlete has now claimed the HCAC's last three individual pole vaulting titles.
DC's Dan Hardin-Wallace finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 14' 7.25", and Tyler Anderson cleared 14' 1.25" to give the Jackets three of the top-four pole vaulters at the meet.
Justin Perkins missed the NCAA provisional qualifying standard by just seven and a half seconds as he finished the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:31.50 for a second-place finish at the meet. The junior runner has finished among the top-two steeplechase runners at the HCAC Championships in each of his first three seasons at Defiance.
The HCAC Championships will resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. and conclude with the awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
