Beaverson Leads Men’s Track at AU-Preconference Invite

Beaverson placed seventh at the meet in the shot put with a toss of 41' 7.25" and took fourth place in the hammer throw, tossing the implement 154' 6" to move into second place on the HCAC's performances list this season.
DC's Austin Trivett, Tyler Anderson and Dan Hardin-Wallace carried the Jackets in the rest of the field events. The trio claimed the top-three spots at the meet in the pole vault, with Trivett clearing 14' 5.25" to claim top honors. Anderson led Defiance in the javelin throw with a toss that sailed 151' 9" to give the sophomore athlete a top-seven spot in the conference standings.
Other notable performers included Ryan Perry, who finished second at the meet in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100-meter dash. Perry's time of 22.81 seconds in the 200-meter dash ranks fourth in the HCAC this season and 10th in school history.
The Yellow Jackets will now set their eyes on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, set to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29, and run through Saturday afternoon. Defiance will look to improve upon its third-place finish at last season's championship meet.
