HCAC announces fall 2021 cross country preseason polls
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its preseason coaches polls for men's and women's cross country on Tuesday with Defiance finishing tenth.
CARMEL, Ind. - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its preseason coaches polls for men's and women's cross country on Tuesday with Defiance finishing tenth.
The top five men's spots went to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Manchester University, Earlham College, Franklin College, and Transylvania University. Hanover led the women's poll followed by Manchester and Rose-Hulman who tied for second and Bluffton University and Franklin who tied for fourth.
The freshman trio of Alexandria Ausmus, Traci Cross, and Ashanti Elkins earned spots on the women's Athletes to Watch list as well as sophomore Destiny Oshodin and senior Katelyn Smith.
Sophomore John Reese and freshmen Peyton Switzer and Lane Westerfeld were named to the men's watchlist.
Defiance will begin the season on Sept. 3 at the Eastern Illinois University Walt Crawford Open.
