Miller claims DC 5k record at Calvin meet
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Eme Miller led the way for the Defiance College Women's Cross Country team at the Calvin College Pre-Regional Meet Saturday morning, breaking the school record in the process.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Eme Miller led the way for the Defiance College Women's Cross Country team at the Calvin College Pre-Regional Meet Saturday morning, breaking the school record in the process.
Miller set the Defiance College Women's 5k record in the race, breaking the previous record by 26 seconds, finishing in a time of 19:10.9. The strong run by Miller placed her 52nd overall in a field of 316 racers among 33 teams.
Kelsey Bowling was the second finisher for the Yellow Jackets in the race, finishing with a 22:06.2 to score 150th. Marissa Bussard (22:08.9) and Brittney Holmes (22:14.0) finished right behind Bussard, scoring 152nd and 153rd.
Taylor Traut rounded out the scoring for the Yellow Jackets, scoring 160th with a time of 23:00.4. Sadie Daeger finished right behind Traut, crossing the line with a 23.05.8.
Defiance finished with 658 points in the event, finishing 23rd overall as a team.
The Yellow Jackets will now set their sights on the Otterbein Invitational next weekend. The race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 21 in Westerville, Ohio.
