ERIE, Pa. – The women’s cross country team earned a third-place finish with 144 points at the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Saturday, finishing ahead of 19 other teams on the back of their senior harrier, Kaitlin Switzer.
ERIE, Pa. – The women's cross country team earned a third-place finish with 144 points at the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Saturday, finishing ahead of 19 other teams on the back of their senior harrier, Kaitlin Switzer.
Switzer led the way for the Yellow Jackets for the second-straight week, placing ninth out of 161 runners with a time of 20:38.7 on the 5k course. Ericha Griep finished second for Defiance and 17th overall, completing the course in 21:19.2, just eight seconds off the personal-record pace she set at home one week ago.
Kate Busto came in at 22:05 to take third for Defiance and 28th overall, while Kara Suffel placed 39th overall at 22:23.7, and Erika Debos earned a top-50 finish with a time of 22:34. Ellen Stryffeler and Kaye Bockbrader came in at 22:58.2 and 23:27.3 respectively to take the sixth and seventh-place spots for Defiance.
The Yellow Jackets will continue the season on Friday, September 24, when they head to Bluffton for a dual meet with the Beavers. Defiance will look to make it two first-place finishes in three weeks with a win over Bluffton.
