Kalik Honored with Academic All-District Selection
GREENWOOD, IND. – Members of the College Sports Information of Directors of America (CoSIDA) recently voted for the Capital One Women’s Volleyball Academic All-District Teams and senior setter Alicia Kalik (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) was honored as a first-team pick.
GREENWOOD, IND. – Members of the College Sports Information of Directors of America (CoSIDA) recently voted for the Capital One Women's Volleyball Academic All-District Teams and senior setter Alicia Kalik (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) was honored as a first-team pick.
By being named first-team, Kalik is now elgible for the Academic All-American vote which will take place later this month. To be elgible for the Academic All-District program, nominees must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and be a starter or significant contributor in their respective sport.
On the court, Kalik has led DC to a 17-11 record, including an 8-1 mark in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. With her help, DC won its second straight regular-season conference title this season.
Kalik leads the team is assists with 873. The all-time leader in assists at Defiance averages 8.91 assists per contest this season. Kalik also ranks in the top-two on the team in digs with 243 and averages 2.48 per set.
In the classroom, Kalik excels much like she does on the volleyball court. The senior has a cumulative GPA of 3.9 throughout her college career. She is majoring in sport management.
Kalik will be back in action with the rest of the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, Nov. 8 when Defiance hosts the semifinal and championship rounds of the 2014 HCAC Tournament as the top seed. DC hosts No. 5 seed Franklin (ind.) College in a HCAC semifinal matchup. Start time is set for 2:00 pm.
