29 DC Student-Athletes Honored on Fall HCAC Academic-Team
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its fall honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team, with Defiance placing 29 student-athletes on the list.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its fall honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team, with Defiance placing 29 student-athletes on the list. The 29 award winners is nine more than the 2011 season and the most DC has ever placed on the list.
In order to be named an Academic All-HCAC selection, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year, be enrolled full-time at their institution, be a varsity athlete and possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 at the end of the semester preceding the conclusion of the fall season.
Defiance saw seven women's soccer players, six volleyball athletes, and four members of the women's golf team earn recognition among the 29 Yellow Jackets to make the list. The Yellow Jackets' women's golf team led the HCAC among all women's golf programs for the award and volleyball's six athletes earning the honor tied the program for first in the conference with Rose-Hulman.
DC's standout student-athletes from the fall included Melina Alexander, Evan Allen, Kelly Beard, Kim Bingley, Chad Brooks, Tasha Brown, James Buari, Marissa Bussard, Genelle Castro, Ian Fasnacht, Luke Freels, Phoenix Golnick, Adam Grillot, Katie Heitkamp, Caroline Hesterman, Alicia Kalik, Anna Kusz, Danielle LaBarbera, Chelsea Ludeman, Lindsay McDaniel, Chelsie Moyer, Ryan Owens, Alexis Pierce, Catie Savage, Christa Seidenstricker, Josh Slayton, Abby Taylor, Kayla Uscilowski and Sarah Westfall.
