Ludeman Named Heartland Offensive Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior outside hitter Chelsea Ludeman earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her stellar play in DC’s last four matches.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior outside hitter Chelsea Ludeman earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her stellar play in DC's last four matches. This marks the first time Ludeman has received this award in her illustrious career.
The junior totaled 58 kills over the four-match span, averaging 3.86 kills per set. Ludeman recorded two double-doubles in Saturday's matches, including a 22 kill, 11 dig and six ace performance against Case Western Reserve. The 22 kills is a season-high. The Napoleon native followed up the impressive performance with 11 kills and 12 digs in a straight-set win over Muskingum.
In HCAC action, Ludeman led the Yellow Jackets to a 3-0 victory over Anderson on Wednesday evening. The junior had 17 kills in the match, with an impressive attacking percentage of .432. Ludeman added eight kills, five digs and one ace in Sunday's loss to Rose-Hulman.
On the season, Ludeman is second on the team in kills, hitting percentage, blocks and points. The junior is currently placed fourth in the HCAC in hitting percentage with a mark of .263 and sixth in kills with an average of 2.95 kills per set.
Ludeman and the Yellow Jackets host their final regular season match of the season on Wednesday evening, as DC takes on rival Bluffton in a pivotal HCAC showdown. If Defiance wins the match, the Purple and Gold will host a first round match in the conference tourney. The contest will begin at 7:00 p.m.
