DC Volleyball Falls to Mount St. Joseph in First HCAC Defeat
CINCINNATI – The Yellow Jacket volleyball team suffered its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss of the season at the hands of the Lions from Mount St. Joseph, who remain undefeated in conference play. Defiance was defeated in four sets by scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-17.

The two teams continuously traded blows in the opening two sets, as Mount claimed the opener 25-23 before the Yellow Jackets won the second by a score of 26-24.
After the second, the Lions took over and handled DC winning the next two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-17.
Leading the way for Defiance was junior Alexis Pierce, who totaled 10 kills, two blocks, two digs and only one attack error. Saturday's performance marks the 15th time that Pierce has recorded double-digit kill totals this season.
The loss drops the Purple and Gold's season record to 13-9 and its conference record to 3-1. The defeat also ends the Jackets four-match win streak.
DC will look to begin a new streak on Saturday, October 13 as the squad returns home to play Transylvania in a HCAC clash. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
