Hot-Swinging Jackets Pound Manchester for Fifth-Straight Win

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – Defiance College blistered the Manchester defense on Thursday evening, en route to sweeping the Spartans for the team's fifth-straight win. The Jackets posted a team hitting percentage of .418 and evened their record in HCAC play.
Manchester (5-21, 0-7 HCAC) had no answer for the red-hot DC squad and fell to the Yellow Jackets 25-20, 25-11, 25-18. The sweep was the fifth for Defiance in its last five showings.
Danyel Lipps led the charge with 16 kills in 32 swings. Along with the .469 hitting percentage, Lipps added eight digs, one ace and a pair of blocks. Marlea Rolander slammed nine kills and four blocks, Sara Porter added 11 kills and Kelsey Ferguson dished out 22 assists.
The straight-set win moves Defiance to 18-9 overall and 3-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. DC will play Kenyon and Allegheny in a tri-match at Kenyon on Saturday, before closing out the regular season with league matches against Franklin and Bluffton.
