DC Cruises Past Earlham for Straight-Set Victory

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Defiance College volleyball team won for the fifth time in its last six matches by sweeping Earlham on Wednesday night. The Jackets posted a season-high .387 hitting percentage en route to the 3-0 victory.
DC was never challenged during the road win and quickly dispatched the Quakers by a 25-10, 25-15, 25-10 margin. Ashlyn Howell led the Jackets and set a new career high with 11 kills in 16 swings, while Danyel Lipps put eight of her 14 attempts down for kills without a miscue. Marlea Rolander continued her strong play by collecting seven kills and five blocks.
The Yellow Jackets move to 7-4 with the victory and will look to continue their winning ways when they play at the Marietta Tournament on September 18 and 19. DC is set to face Carlow, Kenyon, Ohio Valley and Marietta in the round-robin event.
