Rollins wins an event and records a personal best at Don Kleinow Memorial
ADRIAN, Mich. - The Defiance College Track and Field teams made the short trip up to Michigan yesterday afternoon (Apr. 19) to compete at the Don Kleinow Memorial hosted by Siena Heights University. Freshman Montgomery Rollins was the only DC competitor to win an event and record a personal best at the meet.
Despite flying solo, Lisa-Maria Markau earned 16 points to give the women an eighth place finish out of 12 teams. The men earned 18 points and placed seventh out of 12 teams.
Although Markau saw her winning streak come to an end, she placed second in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Markau's 100 meter time was 12.66 seconds and 200 meter time was 26.01 seconds.
Montgomery Rollins placed 19th in the 200 meter dash and was the 400 meter hurdle champion while recording a new personal best time of 54.80 seconds. Teammate Tawon Cannon finished right behind Rollins in the 400 hurdles placing second with a time of 54.88 seconds.
Gavin Maratea placed 22nd in the 200 meter dash and 17th in the 400 meter dash. Jeremiah Benton competed in only the 400 meter dash and placed just before Maratea in 16th place. In shot put, David Heidelburg finished in 12th place.
