Jacket Women Compete at Ohio Northern Invitational
ADA, OHIO- The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Ada, Ohio to compete in the Ohio Northern University Invitational and finished 15th overall.
ADA, OHIO- The Defiance College women's track and field team traveled to Ada, Ohio to compete in the Ohio Northern University Invitational and finished 15th overall.
The top individual finishes in the running events was a pair of 27th-place showing by junior Aaron Textor (Swanton) in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:53.76 and by freshman Malia Ferry (Milford) in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:08.42.
In the field events, junior Cassidy Santen (Woodbridge, I'll./Downers Grove North) finished eighth in the shot put event. She had a throw of 37' 02.25". Senior Katie Tilman (Miami Springs, Fla./Imacculate LaSalle) was close behind, clinching the 12th spot with a distance of 36' 0.25". The final Jacket to place in the shot put was junior Brooke Waidelich (Pettisville) who finished in 17th place and threw a distance of 34' 05.75".
Waidelich just missed the top ten in the weight throw, finishing 11th overall (45' 00.50"). Santen was the only other jacket who placed in the top-20, taking 16th (43' 9.25").
The team will return to action next Friday (Feb. 10) they host the Dick Small Invitational at the George M. Smart Center. The meet will begin at 4:00 p.m.
