Yellow Jackets Battle in Ada
ADA, OHIO – The Defiance College women’s track and field team traveled to Ada, Ohio to compete at Ohio Northern University and finished tenth with a team score of 20 points.

The Purple and Gold was led by sophomore Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) who finished first in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:27.23. Fellow Yellow Jacket, senior Kelsey Bowling (Sidney/Houston) followed close behind Miller, crossing the line in fifth place with a time of 21:57.36.
The Yellow Jacket throwers had a strong showing in the field events. Freshman Hannah Williams (Swanton) launched the discus 121' 10" to put her in eighth place. Williams also competed in the hammer throw and catapulted the hammer 125' 11" to finish in tenth place.
Sophomore Colby Heeter (Bloomsburg, Pa. /Bloomsburg) sailed the javelin 104' 5", to finish sixth, while freshman Cassidy Stanten (Woodridge, Ill. /Downers Grove North) sent her javelin 98' to finish right behind Heeter in seventh place.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday, Apr. 24 when they travel to Lexington, Ky. for the first day of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
