Yellow Jackets Host Dick Small Meet
DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Defiance College women’s track and field team hosted the 20th Annual Dick Small Meet and many Yellow Jackets soared above the competition in the unscored meet.

Freshman Aaron Textor (Swanton) led Defiance with a first place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:37.19. Fellow Yellow Jacket seniors Kelsey Bowling (Sidney/Houston) and Marissa Bussard (Canal Winchester/Bloom-Carroll) finished close behind Textor crossing the line second and third with times of 5:37.25 and 5:49.15, respectively.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase was no match for junior Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. /Jay County) as she crossed the line third, with a time of 11:35.98.
The 4x100 relay team consisting of juniors Jessie Bell (West Salem/Northwestern), Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center), freshman Leah Anderson (Hicksville) and sophomore Colby Heeter (Bloomsburg, Pa. /Bloomsburg) finished third after crossing the line in 54.60 seconds. Heeter also competed in the javelin throw and tossed the javelin a distance of 93' 2' which was good for a third place finish.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday, Apr. 11 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for the All-Ohio DIII Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
