The meet featured very tough competition as three of the six teams competing were NAIA schools.
DC had a very nice meet all the same. Seven individuals broke into the scoring column for the Yellow Jackets.
Brooke Lime (Defiance, Ohio / Defiance) led the way for DC, gaining points in two events. She clocked in at 16.96 in the 100-meter hurdles to claim second place in the event. She also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles. She put a time up of 1:08.37 in that event.
In the 1,500-meter run, DC fans were in for quite a showing. Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) not only finished fifth, but she broke the oldest record in the book. Miller finished the race with a time of 4:57.14, breaking DC's Women's Track and Field's oldest record set by Patty Schiwebert in 1978. Miller beat Schiwebert's record by three seconds.
Another record nearly fell, as Sam Cook (Raiford, Fla. / Bradford County) now sits in second in the DC record books after her shot put performance. She tossed for a distance of 12.30 meters to pick up a fourth place finish.
Jessie Bell (West Salem, Ohio / Northwestern) picked up the only other top three finish for the Yellow Jackets outside of Lime's two second place finishes. Bell finished third in the 400-meter dash with a 1:05.89.
In the javelin, Kim Maro (Tunkhannock, Pa. / Tunkhannock) threw for a distance of 28.96 meters to pick up a fourth place finish.
Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center, Ohio / Liberty Center) also had a top five finish for the Yellow Jackets. In the long jump she jumped a distance of 5.02 meters to pick up the fifth place finish.
Rounding out the scoring for DC was Kelsey Bowling (Sidney, Ohio / Houston). She placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a 22:44.90.
