Defiance’s Bingley Takes 10th in Heptathlon at NCAA Nationals
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Defiance’s Kim Bingley wrapped up her showing in the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Nationals with a strong finish in the 800-meter race and climbed to 10th in the heptathlon with 4,506 total points.
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Defiance's Kim Bingley wrapped up her showing in the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Nationals with a strong finish in the 800-meter race and climbed to 10th in the heptathlon with 4,506 total points. The point total was Bingley's best-ever in the heptathlon and the second-highest in the event in DC history.
Bingley finished the 800-meter race in a time of 2:27.55 for 724 points. The mark was the fastest of the year for any Defiance athlete and the third-best tally in the history of the Yellow Jacket women's track and field program. The Ottawa, Ohio native also picked up 542 points in the javelin with a throw of 33.47 and notched 495 points in the long jump after leaping 4.76 meters.
Bingley ended the heptathlon with the fourth-best score in the nation among freshmen and sophomores, topping her previous total of 4,386 in her only other time competing in the event.
