Yellow Jackets Compete at All-Ohio Championships
DELAWARE, Ohio – The Defiance College track and field team took part in the All-Ohio Championships on the Campus of Ohio Wesleyan University, on Saturday, April 17.
DELAWARE, Ohio – The Defiance College track and field team took part in the All-Ohio Championships on the Campus of Ohio Wesleyan University, on Saturday, April 17. DC's Tyler Anderson, Josh Beaverson, Thavez Jeter, Austin Trivett and Kaitlin Switzer each earned All-Ohio honors at the meet.
Austin Trivett led the way for the Jackets, earning All-Ohio recognition in three different events. In the pole vault, Trivett cleared 14-09.00 to take second place at the meet, while improving his personal record to claim the second-best height in school history, and remain atop the HCAC standings.
Trivett also moved up from fourth place to first place in the conference in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.96, which took fourth-place at the meet and ranks as the number-four performance in DC history. The junior also took sixth in the javelin throw with a toss of 158-00 feet.
Tyler Anderson had a good showing for Defiance in the pole vault as well. Anderson cleared 14-05.25 to place sixth at the meet, and tie with teammate Dan Hardin-Wallace for second-place in the HCAC this season.
In other field events, Thavez Jeter took eighth place at the meet in the high jump with a clearance of 1.82 meters, while Josh Beaverson placed eighth in the hammer throw with a heave of 45.12 meters.
Kaitlin Switzer was the lone female on the team to post an All-Ohio performance with a sixth-place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Switzer's time of 11:44.12 ranks as the single-fastest time in the HCAC this season, and the best performance in school history for the event.
The track and field team will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, when they compete in the Gina Relays, in Hillsdale, Mich.
