Women's Tennis Falls in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Defiance College women's tennis team fell to Penn-State Behrend by a final match score of 8-1, in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Yellow Jackets (5-14) began the match by battling in doubles play against the Lions (13-5). Senior Savannah Marquez (Porterville, Calif. /Porterville) and freshman Hannah Hesterman (Archbold) ended up with the only victory of the match in the first doubles spot with a final score of 8-5.
Hesterman had the closest singles match for the afternoon, forcing her opponent to a third-set decision, but eventually falling by a match score of 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
The Yellow Jackets will conclude their stay in Hilton Head, S.C. with a match against Eastern (Pa.) Nazarene University on Friday, Mar. 11. The match is set to begin at noon.
