Pilots Sail Past Purple and Gold in Defiance Loss
MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Yellow Jacket women’s tennis team traveled to Mishawaka, Ind. to face the Pilots of Bethel College on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. DC was defeated by the strong Bethel squad by a score of 9-0.

In doubles play Defiance was unable to win a set at any of the three positions, as the Pilots forced their will upon the Jackets. Singles action was much of the same for Defiance. The Purple and Gold dropped five of the six matches in straight-set fashion.
Junior Danielle LaBarbera played the closest match of the day for DC. The junior jumped out on top of her opponent by claiming the first set by a score of 6-4. Unfortunately, LaBarbera lost the second set 6-1 and fell short in the third-set super-tiebreaker.
The loss moves Defiance's season record to 0-7 The Jackets will be back in action on September 22, as DC hosts Franklin College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash. The match will be played at the Dix Tennis Facility and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
