Adrian Too Much For Yellow Jackets in Road Defeat
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Yellow Jacket women’s tennis team traveled to Adrian College on Thursday afternoon to face the Bulldogs in a non-conference match. Defiance was defeated by a score of 8-1.

The match began with the Jackets dropping the opening three matches in doubles action. DC's number one doubles duo of juniors Kirsten Weiland and Catie Savage put forth a strong effort but were defeated by a score of 8-5. The Yellow Jackets were defeated at the two position 8-1 and had to forfeit the three spot due to injury.
The highlight of the day for the Purple and Gold came from junior Danielle LaBarbera at the five singles position. LaBarbera started the match off strong, winning the first set 6-2. The tables turned on the DC junior in set two, as Adrian leveled the match by claiming the second with a score of 6-2. LaBarbera regained her composure and battled to a third set super-tiebreak win by a score of 10-6. The win marks the second in as many days for LaBarbera.
The loss drops Defiance's record to 0-4 on the season. The Jackets are back on the courts on Saturday, September 15 at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Rose-Hulman. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
