Three Women's Soccer Players Garner HCAC Recognition
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Sophomore Kassie Memmer (Bowling Green), freshman Claire Stockwell (Union, Ky./Larry A. Ryle) and senior Erica Islas (Lockhart, Texas/Lockhart) has been selected to the 2015 All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Teams for their efforts on the field this season.
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Sophomore Kassie Memmer (Bowling Green), freshman Claire Stockwell (Union, Ky./Larry A. Ryle) and senior Erica Islas (Lockhart, Texas/Lockhart) has been selected to the 2015 All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Teams for their efforts on the field this season. Memmer and Stockwell were both selected honorable mention, while Islas was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. [All-HCAC Teams]
Memmer earned honorable mention accolades for the second straight season after leading the team in scoring with five goals for 10 points, including scoring two game-winners. Her five goals put her in the top-20 in the HCAC in that category. She also led the team in both shots (37) and shots on goal (23). She had a season-best performance of two goals scored in a 2-1 victory against Bethany (W.Va.) College early in the season on Sept. 12.
Stockwell started all 18 games in her first season as a Yellow Jacket at the midfielder position. She recorded three shots, including a pair of shots on goal, but did not score any offensive points. She helped DC post two shutout wins this season, both 1-0 victories against Anderson (Ind.) University and Earlham (Ind.) College.
Islas ended her playing career at DC with her first All-Sportsmanship Team recognition. As a senior, Islas played in 17 games and started 16. She finished the season with one assist for one point. She took nine shots, including five shots on goal for a .556 shot on goal percentage.
In 73 career games, Islas scored seven goals, including a game-winner, and five assists for 19 total points. She tallied 58 shots for a .121 lifetime shooting percentage and 35 shots on goal for a .603 shot on goal percentage. Her 73 career games played, puts her in a tie for third all-time in program history.
