COLUMBUS, OHIO- Defiance women's soccer team lost to Capital University, 2-0, in non-conference action at Bernlohr Stadium in Bexley.
The Yellow Jackets (1-6) and Capital (4-2) battled throughout the evening on the defensive side. The Jackets' offense was unable to find the net as the Crusaders scored their first goal at the 30:23 minute mark. Capital then struck again just before the end of the half during the 42nd minute to lead 2-0 at the conclusion of the first 45:00 minutes.
During the second half the Jacket defense was able to stop Captial from producing any additional goals. Freshman Lea McCoy (Akron/Rittman) was the only Defiance player to record a shot, but would missed wide. The two goals by Capital in the first half were all the Crusaders needed and went to the 2-0 final.
Sophomore Meredith Remy (Mansfield/Ontario) started in net for DC and went the distance. She allowed the two goals, but had 11 saves in the effort between the pipes.
Defiance will travel to Alliance, Ohio this Tuesday (Sept. 22) to take on the University of Mount Union. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
