Alston's goal was her fifth of the year, giving her a new career-high for goals in a season. Kim Bingley set her up for the score with a well-placed pass across the front of the goal, and Alston made it count with a strike to the top-right corner of the net.
Defiance kept the one-goal advantage through halftime and the first eight minutes of the second period, before Rose-Hulman's leading scorer, Eli Baca, tied the game 1-1 in the 53rd minute off a feed from Molly Richardson. The Engineers picked up another goal in the 65th minute, and held on to take the 2-1 victory.
Senior goalkeeper, Kelly Coble, recorded six saves in goal for Defiance, and finishes the 2010 season ranked first in the HCAC with 125 saves. Senior forward, Cherilyn Borkholder, was honored for Senior Day along with Alston and Coble, and ends her career at Defiance with 15 goals through just three seasons.
