Coble and Heitkamp Receive All-HCAC Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2009 all-conference teams on Tuesday, November 10. DC's junior goalkeeper Kelly Coble and freshman defender Katie Heitkamp each received Second Team All-HCAC recognition for helping lead the Jackets to a 5-11-1 record this season. [All-HCAC Teams]
Coble anchored the Yellow Jackets defense throughout the season, recording two shutouts in 17 starts and contributing heavily to a third team shutout. The Cloverdale, Ohio native saved over 77 percent of the opponents' shots on goal, placing herself second in the HCAC with 143 total saves and 8.41 saves per contest. Coble has registered over 150 saves in her career at Defiance.
Heitkamp established herself as one of the premier defensive players in the HCAC and was one of nine freshmen given all-conference recognition. The St. Mary's, Ohio, native started all 17 games for the Yellow Jackets and played a vital role in helping DC record three shutouts on the season. She also recorded an assist in her second ever collegiate competition as the Jackets defeated Finlandia on the opening day of the DC Classic.
