DEFIANCE, Ohio – The women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to league-leading Hanover College on Saturday, dropping them to 1-4-1 in HCAC competition. The match marks the third in as many games that they have failed to register a goal.
Hanover, who is averaging a league-high 2.73 goals per game, was able to find the net twice in the first half to take a two goal advantage into halftime. The Yellow Jackets' defense stiffened, shutting the Panthers out in the second half, but simply could not find any offensive rhythm.
DC goalkeeper Kelly Coble made several outstanding saves to keep the Jackets within striking distance throughout. Coble is averaging nearly nine saves per contest and sits second overall in the conference with 134 saves on the season.
The Yellow Jackets (4-10-1, 1-4-1) will look to get back on track on Tuesday, October 27, when they host Manchester College (2-12-1, 2-4) at the Defiance High School varsity soccer field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
