Wrestling goes 1-2 at Dr. Si Ostrach Duals
The Defiance wrestling team went 1-2 at the Dr. Si Ostrach Duals on Saturday, defeating Waynesburg 38-3 and falling to Case Western 28-27 and Baldwin Wallace 38-6.
The Defiance wrestling team went 1-2 at the Dr. Si Ostrach Duals on Saturday, defeating Waynesburg 38-3 and falling to Case Western 28-27 and Baldwin Wallace 38-6. The event was hosted by Case Western Reserve University at Adelbert Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Waynesburg Dual
- Junior Seth Majewski won by a major decision over Damion Finnegan 16-4 at 133-lbs.
- Senior Alex Smith pinned Esdras Castillo in 1:02 at 141-lbs.
- Senior Cortez Bradley recorded a major decision victory over Kyle Hinerman in the 149-lb weight class.
- Junior Alejandro Castro won a 4-0 decision over Seth Evans at 157-lbs.
- Sophomore Deontae Davis and freshman Joey Perez picked up wins by forfeit at 165 and 184.
- At 174-lbs sophomore, Sean Rankin defeated Bill Simpson 7-4.
- Senior Mason Morris pinned Josh Kumer in 5:45 at 197.
- Sophomore Jonah Schlegel was defeated by Rocky McGeary 8-2 at 285.
The Case Western Dual
- The Spartans picked up a win by forfeit at 125.
- Majewski won by forfiet at 133.
- Smith pinned Brandon Callow in 2:05 at 141.
- Mitchell Arch pinned Bradley at 149.
- Freshman Matthew Beard was pinned by Calvin Cai at 157.
- Davis pinned Jack Chipps 2:12 at 165.
- Rankin was pinned by Thomas Gallagher in 174.
- Aidan Gassell pinned Perez at 184.
- Morris won by forfeit at 197.
- Schlegel won in sudden death over Grant Robinson 3-1 at 285.

- Justin Ritchie defeated sophomore Brent Eicher 16-1 at 141.

- Kevin Kelly defeated junior Jack Minner at 174 by a score of 9-2.
