Wrestling competes at CWRU Mini Invitational
CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Defiance College wrestling team took to the road as they competed at the Case Western Reserve University Mini Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Defiance College wrestling team took to the road as they competed at the Case Western Reserve University Mini Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Wrestlers competed as individuals as the field was comprised of athletes from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), Muskingum University, and Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU).
Junior Rosendo Beltran (Toledo, Ohio / Central Catholic) picked up two technical fall wins over his opponents from CWRU in the 125 weight class.
Kobe Scott (Troy, Ohio / Piqua) wrestled at 149 and finished 2-1 on the day. Scott brought home a 12-5 decision over his opponent from OWU and a 10-6 decision over his opponent from CWRU.
Freshman Derek Spears (Mount Orab, Ohio / Western Brown) also took two wins on the day pinning his competitor form Muskingum in 1:30 and a 13-2 major decision win in his second match of the day.
DC wrestlers Raymier Hickerson (Cleveland Heights, Ohio / Cleveland Heights), Logan Hawn (Deshler, Ohio / Marysville), Kerrington Martin (Houston, Ohio / Covington), Mason Morris (Grove City, Ohio / Central Crossing), and Jacob Legge (Marysville, Ohio / Marysville Early College) each brought home an individual win at the CWRU Mini Invitational.
The Defiance College wrestling program will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 20, as they play host to Lourdes University for a dual match. The match is slated to start at 7: 00 pm in the Karl H. Weaner Center.
