Wrestling Versus Manchester Highlighted by Four Wins

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. - The Defiance College wrestling team made the short trip to Manchester University for a dual with the Spartans on Thursday evening. The Yellow Jackets picked up four wins on the night, ultimately falling 29-18. 

The first win for the Purple and Gold came early in the action, as Rosendo Beltran (Toldeo / Central Catholic) pinned his Manchester opponent to take 125 class win. 

Seth Beard (Napoleon / Napoleon) followed up Beltran's win in the 133 class with a decision over Manchester's Skyler Gomez. 

DC continued their strong performance as Raymier Hickerson (Cleveland Heights / Cleveland Heights) pinned Manchester's Stevan Najeeb to give Defiance a quick 15-0 lead. 

In the 184 lb. bout, Hunter Mcnutt (Oregon / Clay) came up with a decision victory over his Spartan foe. The freshman's win had the team score standing at 18-20 with just two bouts remaining. 

The Yellow Jackets will return to action after a holiday break as they head to Penn State Behrend on Sunday, January 6th. The contest is slated to start at 3:00 pm.
