Van Dyke matches 18-hole record during Beaver Fall Invite
LIMA, Ohio – Defiance College sophomore Cassi Van Dyke tied the women's golf program's 18-hole record with a round of 78 on Saturday as the Yellow Jackets competed in the Beaver Fall Classic over the weekend. The tournament was hosted by Bluffton at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Lima.
Van Dyke's round of 78 ties Allison Barron's scorecard on September 17, 2016 at the Heidelberg Invitational and is also her third personal best round of the fall season. Van Dyke leads the program with an 18-hole average of 84.0 through six events. The day one score placed the Marysville, Ohio native tied for third entering Sunday's competition, and she shot an 88 to finish just outside the top-five with a sixth-place 166.
Isabelle Vance placed ninth for Defiance with rounds of 81 and 91 for a two-day total of 172. Winter Boroff finished four strokes behind Vance for 10th place with an 85 on Saturday and 91 on Sunday. Emily Momany brought home a two-day total of 228 following rounds of 115 and 113.
Defiance competed against Bluffton and Ohio Northern in the tri-meet as the Polar Bears claimed the team championship with 610 strokes. Bluffton finished with a team total of 658 while DC compiled a 742 for the tournament following afternoons of 359 and 383.
The women's golf team heads to Willoughby, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday to play their final meet of the fall season at the John Carroll Fall Invitational.
