Boroff breaks into top 10 at Steven Tyler Memorial
PORTAGE, Mich. – Winter Boroff was the top finisher for Defiance College women's golf with an 87 scorecard and top-10 finish at the Steven Tyler Memorial Invitational held at The Moors Golf Club on Monday.
The eighth-place finish among 33 golfers is the best for Boroff's season and her second straight tournament with a team-best 87. She compiled a solid front nine score of 41 and limited herself to just three bogeys and one double-bogey. She battled a touch on the back nine with a 46, which was matched by Cassady Van Dyke for the team's best on the back half of the course.
Van Dyke carded a 91 and was even with Boroff through six holes until a run of 11 straight holes over par. Mari Najar and Isabelle Vance each shot 100 for the Yellow Jackets to give Defiance a team score of 378 for the tournament, which was good for a sixth-place finish among seven teams.
Adrian College's Olivia Ohmer took the individual crown with an 80 to help the Bulldogs win the team title with a 336 composite round.
The next competition for the women's golf team is on Wednesday at the Gray Wolves Invitational hosted by Lourdes at The Legacy Golf Club in Ottawa Lake, Mich.
