Women's Golf Places Seventh at Heidelberg Invite
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golf team placed seventh of seven teams at the Heidelberg University Invitational at Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio.
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golf team placed seventh of seven teams at the Heidelberg University Invitational at Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio.
Ohio Wesleyan University won the event with a two-day team score of 713 strokes (364+349=713). Thomas (Ky.) More College was second with 718 strokess (354+364=718) and Capital University was third at 719 strokes (361+358=719).
Individually, the Yellow Jackets were led by the duo of sophomore Allison Barron (Ypsilanti, Mich./Heritage) and junior Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) who both finished in the top-five. Barron posted the lowest score for the team with a tournament-total 165 strokes (87+78=165) and placed second overall, finishing one stroke behind the tournament leader.
Aslanian finished two spots behind Barron in fourth place after carding rounds of 89 and 79 strokes for a ttoal of 168 strokes.
Freshman Megan McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) was third on the team with 220 strokes (103+117=220) and was followed by junior Mallory Galloway (Marion/Ridgedale) to round out the DC competitors with a total of 226 strokes (117+109=226).
Defiance will host the single round Defiance Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 2 at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance. The event is set to begin at 11 a.m.
