Women's Golf Begins Season at Trine (Ind.) Classic
ANGOLA, IND. -- In the first event of the 2016 fall season by any team, the Defiance College women's golf team got the athletic year underway by competing at the Trine (Ind.) University Kickoff Classic at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.

The Yellow Jackets finished the one-day tournament with a overall team score of 409 strokes and placed seventh out of eight teams.
DC had four players compete and was led by junior Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) who carded an 18-hole round of 90 strokes and finished in a tie for 15th place individually. She was followed by sophomore Allison Barron (Ypsilanti, Mich./Heritage) who finished just two strokes behind with a 92.
Senior Mallory Galloway (Marion/Ridgedale) was third on the team with a round of 111 strokes and freshman Megan McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) completed her first collegiate round with a 116.
Cleary (Mich.) University captured the overall event with a team total of 336 strokes. Host school Trine, was second with 338 strokes and Indiana Wesleyan University rounded out the top three at 342 strokes.
Defiance will next compete in the annual Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The 18-hole tournament is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
