Defiance Finishes Sixth at HCAC Championships
NORTH BEND, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golf team ended the 2015 season with a sixth-place finish at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Mount St. Joseph University at Aston Oaks Golf Course in North Bend, Ohio.
NORTH BEND, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golf team ended the 2015 season with a sixth-place finish at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Mount St. Joseph University at Aston Oaks Golf Course in North Bend, Ohio.
The Yellow Jackets posted a two-day total of 869 (434+435=869) strokes to finish sixth of seven teams. Hanover (Ind.) College captured the team championship with a total of 693 strokes (344+349=693). Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology was second at 707 strokes (356+351=707) and Franklin (Ind.) College was third with a combined total of 722 strokes (361+361=722).
DC was led by freshman Allison Barron (Ypsilanti, Mich./Heritage) who ended the tournament with a two-day total of 179 strokes (84+95=179) and placed in the top-ten with a ninth-place finish individually. Sophomore Kristin Aslainian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) recorded the second lowest total for the Jackets with rounds of 92 and 96 strokes to post a tournament total 188 strokes. Junior Mallory Galloway (Marion/Ridgedale) was third on the team with 222 strokes (117+105=222) and was followed by senior Katie Patchin (Farmington/Bristol Local) with 280 strokes (141+139=280). Rounding out the individual scores for DC was sophomore Allison Behrendt (North Olmsted) who had 291 strokes (143+148=291).
Following the conclusion of the championships, Galloway was named to the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
