Women's Golf Wraps Up Season at HCAC Championships
WABASH, IND. -- The Defiance College women's golf team improved by 17 strokes in the final round and placed seventh overall at the 2014 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Manchester (Ind.) University at Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Ind.
WABASH, IND. -- The Defiance College women's golf team improved by 17 strokes in the final round and placed seventh overall at the 2014 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Manchester (Ind.) University at Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Ind.
Hanover (Ind.) College came in first and captured its third HCAC Championship in program history with a two-day team score of 643 strokes (329+314=643). Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology was second at 673 strokes (339+334=673) and Franklin (Ind.) College rounded out the top three with 675 strokes (341+334=675).
As a team, Defiance carded a team score of 411 strokes on the final day of competition and finished with an overall score of 839 strokes (428+411=839) to place seventh. Individually, freshman Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) improved her second-round score by 19 strokes from yesterday's opening round with an 86 and posted a tournament-total 191 strokes (105+86=191) and placed 26th overall. Senior Kayla Uscilowski (Maumee) was second on the team with 206 strokes (105+101=206) and freshman Taylor Carr (Wayne/Elmwood) was third at 218 strokes (107+111=218). Rounding out the Yellow Jacket competitors was sophomore Mallory Galloway (Marion/Ridgedale) who posted a two-day total 224 strokes (111+113=224).
At the conclusion of the tournament, Uscilowski was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
