Women's Golf Hosts Defiance Invitational; Yellow Jackets Finish Sixth
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Freshman Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) led the Defiance College women's golf team with a sixth-place finish at the Defiance Fall Invitational on a cool, blustery day at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance.
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Freshman Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) led the Defiance College women's golf team with a sixth-place finish at the Defiance Fall Invitational on a cool, blustery day at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets finished with an 18-hole cumulative score of 412 strokes to place sixth of seven teams. Cleary (Mich.) University won the event with a team-score of 351 strokes and was followed by the University of Northwestern Ohio in second at 371 strokes. Adrian (Mich.) College came in third place with a score of 373 strokes.
Aslanian opened the round with a front-nine 49 strokes and then improved by four strokes in her final nine holes with a 41, that included five pars, for a tournament total 90 strokes. Posting the second-lowest score for DC was senior Kayla Uscilowski (Maumee) who shot a round of 104 strokes (51+53=104). Freshman Taylor Carr (Wayne/Elmwood) was third at 108 strokes (52+56=108) and sophomore Mallory Galloway (Mason/Ridgedale) rounded out the individual scoring rounds for the Jackets at 110 strokes (60+50=110).
The Yellow Jackets will be off next week and will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 5 for the one-day Franklin (Ind.) College Fall Invitational. The round is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Ind.
