Jackets Compete at Capital Invitational
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s golf team wrapped up its regular season schedule on Sunday, with a sixth-place showing at the Capital Invitational.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf team wrapped up its regular season schedule on Sunday, with a sixth-place showing at the Capital Invitational. DC will close its 2011 campaign on October 8 and 9, when it hosts the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
The Yellow Jackets scored a 446 in Sunday's round, edging Columbus State by 13 strokes and besting Muskingum by 30 shots in the team standings. Mount Union claimed the title with a 356, with Otterbein (365), John Carroll (383), Capital (386) and Ohio Northern (418) wrapped up the top five.
Mount Union's Mary Snode led all individuals with an 80, while Sarah Westfall carded DC's lowest score with a 102 to end in 22nd. Kelly Beard was next for Defiance with a 111 to take 28th, while Taylor Tuttle (115) and Kayla Uscilowski (118) also finished among the top-30 golfers.
The Lady Jackets will compete at the HCAC Championship on Saturday and Sunday. Each round is set to begin at 9:00 am.
