Westfall Leads Jackets at HCAC Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf squad hosted six other Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foes at Eagle Rock Golf Club on Sunday for the HCAC Invitational. Sarah Westfall paced the Jackets for the third time this season, by finishing in 20th position.
Westfall fired a 96 for her third top-20 finish of the year and was followed by Tara Miller's score of 101 that earned a 25th-place performance. The duo led Defiance to a total score of 416 and a seventh-place showing.
Franklin shot a 348 to edge Transylvania by nine strokes and Hanover by 14 in a tightly bunched top three. Anderson (376) ended in fourth, with Manchester (392), Mount St. Joseph (406) and Defiance wrapping up the team standings.
FC's Brittany Brownrigg and Brittany Stephens shot scores of 80 and 81 respectively to take the top two spots in the individual standings, with Carly Clock of Manchester and Jennifer Trame of MSJ ending in a tie for third with an 84.
The Jackets will be back in action next Sunday, October 2, when they compete at the Capital Invitational. The tournament is slated to begin at 11:00 am.
